Club IT part one

Today’s organizations need to follow a specific business strategy and use an effective informational technology system to increase their chance to be successfully competitive. According to Rainer and Turban (2009), “strategic information system provide a competitive advantage by helping an organization implement its strategic goals and increase its performance and productivity” (p. 37). Club It, a newly remodeled downtown music venue offering live music and managed by owners Lisa Tejada and Ruben Keys, has to take advantage of its information base and enhance its data management, information technology, and decision-making capabilities to establish the community wished for by the owners. The owners need to implement major changes to the online information resources and data management of the Club as well as develop an innovation strategy, which would improve its competitive advantage.

The owners of the Club IT describe the mission of the nightclub on its website as the following: “We, Ruben and Lisa, offer you live music, DJ’s, dance space and refreshments that suit your lifestyle. You are our friends, and we seek to build a community that meets regularly at Club IT.” The nightclub’s website does not clearly state the target clientele, but it can be assumed that the primary customers are 21 or older and enjoy socializing while listening to live music or dancing on different styles of music such as techno, electronica, or hip-hop.

The main information resource available to customers and employees is the Club It website. Although the website is easy to use, it is plain, poorly design, and is not interactive. It provides seven rudimentary distinct sections: information about the club, music, merchandise, food and beverages menus, staff, and layout.
