Dehydration
Water is so very important part of the human body. In adults the body is made of about 60% water. Smaller children have more water but infants are about 70% of water. Water provides many functions to the body. One function that water provides is that, water allows the eye to tear so that it gets the dirt out. Water also cushions the body such as the joints and the eyeball sockets. When a woman is pregnant, the amniotic fluid which is made of water cushions the baby and keeps the baby safe from getting hurt. One function that I didn’t know about was the blood. Blood is mostly water that flows through the body, delivering oxygen and nutrients to cells. Water also functions in chemical reactions and helps to regulate the temperature in the body.
When talking about how water in the body regulates the temperature, water holds heat and it changes slowly to keep the body temperature constant. I think that the temperature of outside also tells the body that it’s either to warm so it then will cool off the blood or to cold then it will try to warm up the blood. How it warms the body is when it gets to warm then the blood vessels in the skin dilate which then causes the blood to flow close to the skin so it can release heat to the surrounding air. When the body is cold it does the opposite of what the body does when it’s cold. The blood vessels constrict which then causes the blood to restrict and does not go near the surface of the skin so that it conserves the body heat.
When you get the urge to drink the body is telling you that you are thirsty. Thirst is caused by your mouth being dry and your brain telling you to drink. With the athletes that train in the summer like football, baseball, or track they need to drink more water because there body temperature due to the heat outside. Not that I am saying that other athletes don’t need to drink water but the hot sun is going to take a lot more water from your body.
The way that you lose most of your water is...
