In today’s society, we are faced with many health issues affecting different kinds of people and different areas of the world. We break these down into demographics to see exactly which group of people or which area is affected by the specifics of a certain health concern. And example would be those affected by HIV or AIDS. As we know most of those affected by this disease are homosexuals males. When we classify these things, we are putting them into demographics. In this paper I will discuss the affect of obesity amongst us and who is put into this category and why.

Obesity is known as excessive amounts of fat being stored in a particular spot of the body. It is a very serious epidemic of what we face and who faces it. Obesity comes from unhealthy eating and lack of physical activity. Once these are put into combination, we face the consequences of becoming overweight and eventually leading to obesity.

In 2008, it was estimated that 1.5 billion adults 20 years or older were considered overweight while over 200 million men and 300 million women which is considered approximately ten percent of adults were considered obese (WHO, 2008). This then lead to the diagnoses of 43 million children under the age of five years old as being overweight. Obesity is known to attack the lower income people as opposed to the high income people. The reason it has affected those that are in lower income areas is because of the easy demand on cheaper food. Majority of the cheaper food is less than dieting food. Also the amount of stress can cause weight gain and issues amongst the urban setting such as minorities and so forth.

Obesity is caused by lack of dieting and also caused by other things triggering this. Some things that contribute this would be watching television for a long amount of hours. Also lacking the involvement of children doing certain things around the house is a major cause. Obesity affects all ages...
