Networking for Career Success

Professional women are becoming more aware of the opportunities in their careers. By educating themselves through organizations and associations with similar ethics and values, they can enhance their knowledge and abilities. Using their enhanced skills, they can fast track for career success, achievements, and recognition.

Who

Although many organizations and associations exist, the National Latina Business Women Association is one of the leading organizations for professional Latina women. The association was founded in 2003 when 15 professional women decided there was a need to create an organization that accommodates business women. The organization provides workshops that offer educational materials in marketing, law, accounting, IT, etc. In addition to business scholarships, they also offer programs to help business women understand the personal and business sides of finance (National Latina Business Women Association, 2009). NLBWA’s mission is to promote, develop, and support the rapid growth of Latina business owners and professionals. Their purpose is to create more representation, visibility, and business development in an underrepresented market. The association is a superior organization to provide networking and mentoring opportunities at all levels in business (“The National Latina Business Women Association Hosts Its Third Annual Build the Latina Business Woman Conference,” 2008).

Contributions

Networking usually means “the exchange of information or services amongst groups specifically to promote productive relationships for employment or business” Networking, (2004). Networking requires critical thinking, brainstorming, and communication. Because the workshops cover all aspect of owning and running a successful business, the organization significantly enhances knowledge and abilities.
