THE DROVER' S WIFE, by –Henry Lawson

THE DROVER'S WIFE, by Henry Lawson describes a bush woman, who lived with her four children and a snake-dog while her husband was away with sheep. In the story, when she found out that there was a snake in her house, she tried her best to protect all of her children from being bitten by it. Although she was a woman, she herself fought a drought, flood, bullock, drunkard and swagman. Eventually, with the help of her snake-dog, Alligator, she was able to catch the snake and get it burned.

In my own opinion, I think if other women encountered this situation, they would give up their children or do nothing besides shouting for help.

As I can see in the story, I can say that even though the drover's wife was fearful of the snake and worried about bad things that happened to her family, she still stood still and fought back to save herself and her children. This shows that living in such a society is...
