Iron Age Britain: Maiden Castle AD40

Questions

1. The kind of work people were doing in Maiden Castle was making their own clothes and tools using different types of equipment, every one of all ages did this type of work. Growing their own food, collecting water from a well and their firewood from nearby a woodland. They also worshipped their gods, learnt how to fight and they had guards who guarded the place incase of an attack.

2. The words to describe the houses in Iron Age Britain could be round, cold, small, huts walls and roofs.

3. From their religious beliefs I have found out that they worshipped the sun, the moon and the other gods who they believed made sure of good harvests. They also had a totem pole which they believed kept the bad spirits out of sight.

4. The king in Maiden Castle just ruled the local area not the whole of Britain.

5. The people living in Maiden Castle did not speak the same language as we do today. They had their own language. Nobody knew what it was and how it sounded like.

6. If I was an invader I may want to take over this type of place because there is alot of things here that were useful in life back then. Houses were good quality for those times, they were worth living in. They had the basic necessities like food shelter and warmth. They could learn how to do things with one another therefore people would like to break in this type of Castle.

7. By looking at the picture I can find out that some of their clothes and some of the buildings could have been made out of iron.

1. By looking at Roman Canterbury and the Maiden Castle it seems that Roman Canterbury was more modern. The homes that the people in Roman Canterbury lived in were round and made out of wood and thatch. Some houses were made out of stones, bricks and tiles.
