Rising Health Care Costs

Introduction

Rising health care costs are devastating many American families and H.R. 3962 has made it worse. Signed into law by President Obama on March 23rd, 2010, H.R. 3962 is paving the way toward universal health care in the United States. This bill that President Obama has forced onto the American people is bad for America. Mandating health insurance coverage for all, penalizing individuals without coverage, and expanding the Medicaid program are just some of the provisions President Obama has forced upon our nation.

Many Americans are concerned as to how President Obama will pay for it. This bill will actually punish people for not having insurance coverage. This nation was founded on the principle of individual freedoms and free choice. What administration has the right to challenge those founding beliefs? An Associated Press poll dated April 12th, 2011, showed that only 35% of Americans approve of this bill (Source: AP Poll, April 2011). This poll was conducted nearly thirteen months after the bill was signed into law. This clearly shows our current administration that this bill is still unwanted and the administration has yet to explain who will pay for the rising costs associated with the bill. The administration talks of tax hikes all across the board to decrease our nation’s debt, however, this health care bill raises the debt ceiling higher than any time in America’s history. If a person chooses no health care coverage, then make them legally responsible for their medical bills.

The real questions for Americans are: Can America afford this form of socialized medicine? Who will pay for it and for how long? Who will fund all of the Medicaid programs? How will our seniors obtain health care when Medicare cut is so severe? Do Americans think the Affordable Healthcare Act is expensive?
