Ancient feature of Ladakh

Ladakh is a part of Indian state Jambu and Kashmir lies on the foot of great Himalaya. It is one of the highest and beautiful inhabitants regions on earth. Ladakh is a land of snow and desert which is very difficult for human survive. But the people of Ladakh made it possible to live there happily and peacefully.

Most of the people of Ladakh follow Buddhism. Most of them are living in village and do farming. They grow wheat and burly all through the year. They also plant vegetables and fruits in their own garden. People of Ladakh have their own land and animals like sheep, goats, cows etc. At the time of summer they spend time in controlling their cattle in the field.

Economic condition of Ladakh is quiet well. They collect wool from their cattle and make their clothes. They do not need any architecture to build their houses. Everybody know how to built house and they built it by using natural resources. People make the best use of every resource in Ladakh. It may be wood, grass, stone, water or whatever it is they take care of it. So it seems that Ladakhis are real economist who take care of natural resources and try to develop it.

Ladakhis believe in interdependency. Everything are interrelated with each other like animals are dependent on plants, plants on soil and people are dependent on each other. So, they work everything in a very cooperative basis. If there is any trouble, they go to their neighbor for helping them and after then they offer help in return. There is no spending of money or cash in Ladakh. Each family helps each other to the time of birth, marriage or death.

Women of Ladakh enjoy a remarkably high position in their society. They have lots of power in everything. Most of the important decisions are taken by women. They also work in the field with men.
