1. What customers’ primary need does the company address up front?

According to FTD.COM, FTD was the first company to provide a “flower-by-wire” service. The company’s main goal was to deliver flowers and unique gifts to the customers’ family, friends, co-workers, and relatives all around the world. Being able to deliver the orders mostly at the same day is one of the reasons that made FTD successful. FTD connects to a big florist network of approximately 16,000 florist retailers in North America, and worldwide connects to a florist network of approximately 45,000 retail florists in 154 countries. FTD was well known with its great quality, artistry, dependability, and fast delivery all around the world, and this is what all customers were looking forward to seeing in the florist business. FTD was established on August 18, 1910, which is over a 100 year from today. This company started with fifteen florist retailers in the United States that agreed on exchanging out of town orders for deliveries. In 1965, FTD decided to expand the business to include international transactions around the entire world. FTD launched their own florist website – FTD.COM – that added flexibility for the company’s customers. In addition, customers can now order their flowers and/or gifts online and have it delivered by the company while sitting at home or work without contacting any FTD employee in person.
