|Prepositions and their many different uses are as much a question of vocabulary as one of grammar. There are a lot more of them than can|
|be covered in this chapter, so use a good dictionary if you need more detailed information. |
|Some prepositions are easier to learn than others. Those with a clear basic meaning in their own right, e.g. prepositions of time or |
|place, are relatively straightforward to learn as the meaning stays more or less the same. |
|Prepositions that follow nouns, adjectives and verbs can take on different meanings and it is best to learn these as complete units, |
|just as you would learn any other vocabulary, e.g. a rise in something responsible + for, or to depend + on. |
