Abstract

This paper will view the Ethics policies, procedures’ and ethical dilemmas that Valarie is facing. Valerie Young was a marketing manager at an international cosmetics and fragrance company, Wisson, in Chicago. She was responsible for developing the fragrances for their store brands. Valerie's boss, Lionel Waters, had been with the department for 14 years in the company mass fragrance market division. Teams were formed around fragrances that were launched worldwide. Valerie was hired to contribute organizational, financial, and marketing skills. Valerie had never worked in the beauty industry. However, at that time, the department worked with many different perfumers from several fragrance companies. The perfumers themselves or the Wisson teams went to their suppliers' offices in France to conduct so called "fragrance sessions."It takes time to develop a perfect fragrance product for the department stores. The name, concept, design of the bottle takes a tremendous amount of time to create. First, the perfumers are brief about the new project perfumers. Most are discarded right away after "smelling" for the first time because it didn’t meet their objective at that time. During Valerie's first year at the company, the team worked with as many as eight different fragrance companies. Consequently, it was reduced to two perfumers. It wasn’t long before Valerie realized what was happening after discovering invoices from Waters to the two fragrance companies where were left on the copier. Valerie was stunned. She questioned herself, are other on our team involved? Because Valerie is a non-U.S. citizens and did not have a green card in the United States, she only has a special working visa, which allows non-U.S. citizens to work in the U.S. for a determined amount of time.
