Think it over: legalizing marijuana

Thesis: criminalizing Marijuana is at fault and it should be legalized.

i. Marijuana should be treated as the legalized.

• The harmful of marijuana is minimal.

• “Regular marijuana smokers seldom consume more than 3- 5 cigarettes per day” A quote from Morgan and Zimmer in their article “Exposing Marijuana Myths: A Review of the Scientific Evidence1.”

• Smoking marijuana is rarely causing lung problems unlike smoking cigarette.

ii. Why it is legal to drink alcohol which causes more damage, but it is illegal to smoke marijuana.

• Stout- alcohol affects more people and it is still legal.

• Becker- Alcohol accuses many long lasting health problems, however, smoking marijuana does not.

iii. Marijuana medical benefits.

• Morgan and Zimmer- studies shown that marijuana reduces nausea, vomiting, lowering intraocular pressure associated with glaucoma.

• Thompson-marijuana has almost no influence on the main physiological function.

iv. Marijuana is not addictive.

• Adelman and Ethan- marijuana is on the bottom of the list of the habit- forming and deleterious substance.

• Adelman, Ethan- marijuana arrests compare to other illegal drugs arrests.

• Ostrowski- criminalizing drugs, in general, makes people more eager to them.

Conclusion: The prohibition of marijuana is not the solution, it is the problem
