I am employed as a Contract specialist in a program called the COPPER CAP internship program, this program is managed by the Air Force and is designed to train and place College graduates in civilian positions throughout the Air Force as Contract Specialists. I have been in this program for about one year and it is a four year training program, where I am trained under a Senior Contracting Officer. This program was designed to develop procurement professionals and future Government leaders.
The Leadership Trait Questionnaire (LTQ) is used to help leaders assess their strengths and weaknesses and also helps one to rate themselves and how they see themselves as a leader.(Northouse, 2010, p. 31) The questionnaire measures personal characteristics, by having you answer questions and give a rating from one (1), where you strongly disagree to five (5) meaning you strongly agree with the questions within the questionnaire. After taking the questionnaire and receiving ratings from five of my co-workers, my overall score rating average was very similar to my own rating (See below chart).

After completing the 13 questionnaires/exercises in the Northouse textbook, I have an understanding of what traits I am lacking and what improvements are needed in order to attain higher advancement and eventually aim high toward my long-term goals of becoming a Senior Executive Service (SES) within the federal government.
