Negotiation between an employer and an applicant for a new job

1) What are the indexes of your country of origin (France) based on 5 dimensions of hofstede’s cultural dimensions?

Power Distance Index: is a bit more than the medium level. It reaches a little more than 60. It means that there is an unequal power distribution. And consequently, this has a bad impact on the country. Next to the European countries France has a higher index.

Individualism: as well as the first index the level of individualism reached by the country is around 65 (high). We can say that it is very impacting the French society. People are more likely working for themselves than for a group. Related to the European countries average, France is almost the same.

Masculinity: the distribution of roles between genders is low because it scores less than 40 exactly like the trend for the European countries. It means that the value of women is pronounced.

Uncertainty Avoidance Index: is much higher than the European average, around 80. It means that the French tendency is to be emotional and motivated by inner nervous energy. We are less tolerant because we have strong principles, rules and laws.

Long-Term Orientation: concerning this part there is no results. That could be due to total absence of long-term orientation. That would means that the country is focused on short-term actions.

2) What are the indexes of your counterpart’s country of origin (Ukraine) based on the 5 dimensions of hofstede’s cultural dimensions?

Power Distance Index: the index here is a bit higher than the French one, around 74. So, as well as it in France it means that an inequality in terms of power distribution. It also as a negative impact on the country.

Individualism: contrary to France, individualism in Ukrain is low. It means that people in this country are collectivists....
