“Do I Think the Future that Ray Bradbury Paints in “Fahrenheit 451” ,as being Accurate?“

Absolutely! There are so many parallels between points in the story and things that we are exposed to today. When I think of all the people that are so busy texting to people that they are absolutely rude to the people that are with. A movie was actually made, “The Social Network”, which I think is a very ironic title because there is no social aspect to face book. I believe it in fact, robs people of socializing opportunities. You only have to go into any cafeteria to see that I’m right; you will find students with each other not really speaking, they are more interested in the people that aren’t there. I would have to say it is eerily similar to the cousins on the big screen wall televisions that Mildred used as a substitute family.

People may argue that face book and twitter enhance socializing, but their behavior tells me otherwise.

The Kindle, Nook and the Ipad are taking a horrible toll on book stores and libraries. As more and more texts reach cyberspace, it puts more and more people on the unemployment lines. An even more important aspect of people not using bookstores or libraries is that people will not be able to browse the sci-fi section or mystery sections. I actually asked a librarian what she thought of this, she said that there are groups that review books on line. All I could think of was how on the internet, when searching for products the website will steer you to the product that pays them more. I can only see bad things coming with the disappearance of bookstores. I believe the powers that be will be able to sway public opinion by controlling what people read.
