In this paper the author will speak about development during infancy and early childhood. He will explain how families affect the development of infants and young children. He will evaluate different parenting styles and their influence on development during infancy and early childhood to include which parenting style he feels is most effective and why. Discuss early childhood education and its influence on cognitive development.

Infancy is the most unique and important period in a humans development, in that at no other stage of development is there greater amount growth and development occurring. During this time, growth is occurring at the highest physical, socio-emotional and cognitive developmental levels. During this time genetics, the womb environment, and the physical environment after birth all combine to impact the rate and manner of an individual’s growth. This is the stage in life where people ultimately become the individuals they are destined to become. Early childhood is one the most rapid periods of development in a human life. Even though each individual child develops at their own pace, all children progress through an identifiable sequence of physical, cognitive, and emotional growth and changes.

In the stages of infancy and early childhood development families play a huge role in the development of children. Other primary caregivers, such as childcare providers, grandparents, or other family members, also affect the young child’s development through their interactions. repetitive, positive experiences like singing, cooing, touching, holding, talking and reading are essential expressions of love that greatly affect the way a young child’s brain develops which is mainly accomplished by the parent and other siblings in the child’s life.
