Cyber terrorism shows a greater danger to the economy even though other crimes are committed in everyday life. Each and every day someone is murdered or a robbery occurs but what people don’t understand is that internet crimes are becoming more and more popular. Whether it is a personal computer being hacked or a multi- million dollar company getting there information hacked into and the public being at risk these things happen every day.

If a hacker gains vital information say credit card company’s information not only can they have a person’s account information but all their personal information. Where they live, household income, social security number etc. With everyone relying so much on the internet a mere hacker can turn a whole company upside down. Now a day’s cyber terrorism is so popular mainly because there are no guns to obtain illegally, no bombs to destroy people or kill. So people find hacking much easier because so much stuff is on the internet. Also the internet is used in everyday life and anywhere you go you can use the internet or purchase things off the internet using your credit card or even your bank information.

An example of a hacker is Jason Allen Diekman, 20, was sentenced on three separate computer hacking cases. He was sentenced to pay $87,736.29 in restitution to the victims of his crimes. In addition, once released from prison, Judge Pregerson imposed severe restrictions on Diekman’s use of computers while he is under supervised release for a period of three years. Diekman also hacked into NASA computer which was a federal offense. While released on bond Diekman hacked into the University of California’s database which landed him back in prison.
