Once More to The Lake Response

The general argument made by author E. B. White in his work, “Once More to The Lake” is that coming back to a familiar place which gave you so many good memories can be rewarding. More specifically, White argues that the lake was a place of good memories in childhood, and now he can still feel the way he did before. He writes, “It seemed to me, as if kept remembering all this, that those times and those summers had been infinitely precious and worth saving.” In his passage, Once More to The Lake, he is suggesting that all these new experiences are just as precious and as important as the old memories he had before. In conclusion, White’s belief is that visiting and reenacting the past can bring back memories and make new ones much more precious.

In my view, White is right because reenacting and recreating past memories can be a very special feeling. It makes you think back to the past and makes you feel better. More specifically, I believe that memories are gateways to happiness, and memories make you remember how good you felt. For example, whenever I go to the river where I grew up I think about all the good times I had. It makes me happy because I am not concentrating on the present or the future. Therefore, I conclude that White has a good point when writing this essay. Memories can bring back feelings that you haven’t felt in a long time which can be rewarding.
