Learning Outcomes

The learning outcomes at the end of this assignment are for students to have the ability to:

• Demonstrate a basic knowledge of organisation and an understanding of the internal and external environment in which business operates

• To assess the situation and apply the relevant information based on theories and models learned

• Demonstrate competence in the use of written and oral communication skills using a range of techniques and technology

This group assignment constitutes 20% of the module total marks and you are required to write a 3000 word essay based on the case below;

Task A: Report (50%)

You are required to select a company in the private sector and gather sufficient information on the company’s internal and external environment and explain how these factors influence the business

Your assignment should include

• Internal environment

- nature or description of the business;

- the mission, vision and objectives of the company;

- management or organisation structures; and

- the respective departments or divisions and their roles or strategies

• External Environment

- The political-legal, economical, social, technological and competitive environment forces that affect the business.

You may gather information either by face to face or e-mail interview with a busness manager or through other methods of research.

Deliverables

1. Essay length should be approximately 3000 words; any part(s) of the answer exceeding the word limit will be disregarded.

2. You should have a minimum of 5 references to substantiate your research and report writing.

3. You are REQUIRED to use proper referencing methods for this assignment – Harvard Name Systems of referencing.

4. Essay should be well structured and the use of proper headings for topic separation is encouraged.
