Operations Security – Final Security Aspects Paper

In the corporate environment there are many factors to be considered for a business to have the opportunity to run efficiently and effectively. Having the right products and the right prices, having the supply and demand, and having a sound management team are all critical success factors. Along with these factors is the importance of a security management program. This program should focus around employees, assets, customers, and competitors.

In my current role as an operations manager it is important to not only run the business within corporate profit and loss guidelines, but I must also operate within corporate security guidelines. As an operations manager I have responsibility over employee security, asset protection, customer liability exposure, and also competitor security. The operations manager role is a position that oversees many business units within the business. Front line managers and employees are direct reports to the operations manager.

Employee Security

The first aspect of operations security that I will discuss is the employee security. In operations it is necessary to not only protect the employees but to also protect the company from those same employees. It is the responsibility of the operations manager to assure that the employees are working in a safe environment, free of hazardous working conditions, and safe from threats outside of the operations. The use of security guards, photo ID badges, and security cameras are all methods used by the operations department to oversee employee security. It is also important to protect the company against possible threats by rogue employees. The same corporate methods to protect the employees are also used to protect against the employees.
