Course Objectives: -
By the end of the course the students should be able to:

1. Set theory:
❖ Definition, types
❖ Venn diagrams.
❖ Set enumeration and operations on sets.
❖ Applications
2. Equations
❖ Types : linear, quadratic and simultaneous
❖ Solution methods
3. Functions
❖ Linear and quadratic functions.
❖ Polynomials, higher order functions
❖ Exponential and logarithmic functions
❖ Limits and continuity
4. Differential Calculus
❖ Rules of differentiation: power rule, product rule, quotient rule, chain rule.
❖ Application of differentiation to Revenue, Cost and Profit Functions.
5. Integral Calculus
❖ Rules of Integration
❖ Applications of integral calculus
6. Mathematics of finance
❖ Series : Arithmetic series and Geometric series
❖ Simple and compound interest: Simple Interest; compound Interest; continuous Compound Interest; Depreciation;
❖ Annuity: Types of Annuity ; Present Value of Capital; Present Value Perpetuity; Present Value of a Deferred Annuity; Present Value of a Variable Annuity; Amortization; Sinking Fund.
