Diversity Awareness Profile at

National Aircraft Services (NAS)

Introduction:

The case company is National Aircraft Services (NAS) which is specialized in providing services to airlines such as check-in procedures and equipment at airport ramp.

NAS aims and works relentlessly to both develop the services provided to its esteemed customers and to satisfy their needs promptly and efficiently. In view of the fact that human resources factor plays a key role to reach this aim, NAS has established its own Training Center in April 2005.

Organizational needs that are driving the training request:

One of the main aims to establish the Center is that the company has employees of different nationalities and different backgrounds. Therefore, a Diversity Awareness Profile program had to be introduced regularly in the Training Center.

Is training the solution:

Yes, training is the solution because the employees in NAS are mostly of the naïve category; that is, they do not realize they exhibit biased behavior. Therefore, training will be the best solution for them as they will be ready to accept it as a fact. This is of course is better than if they are from the fighters category and are stubborn about their biased behavior. The Training Center has experienced and well qualified trainers in addition to being fully equipped with necessary training facilities to enhance the awareness about diversity.

How will participants' performance will improve:

In addition to the basic as well as the advanced programs and training courses about diversity, group activities will also be introduced in order to enhance the team spirit among the employees.

Who will be affected by the training:

All the employees at NAS will be positively affected by the training in addition to the customers who are dealing with front line staff as they will definitely notice the tolerance and unity among the staff.
