Nurses are very important for the health care system. For many nurses is the strength of the health care system. One out of every four health care workers is a nurse in the United States. According to the Department of Labor nurses are consider the largest health care occupation with 2.5 million jobs available for nurses. About 59% of nurses work at hospitals in the United States. Nurses are required to take care of patients, teach patients, and provide support for patients and family members. They make sure to provide the best treatment and recoveries possible (United State Department of Labor, 2007).

In Virginia the most popular job are nurses. Nurses in Virginia are essential. Nurse’s wage in Virginia is remarkable. Virginia average salaries for Register Nurses are 6 % higher than other states. According to a national salary trend from Indee.com, Virginia average RN salary is $62,000 annually. However, this average salary depends on the experiences and the education of each nurse. For example an Acute Register Nurse in Virginia is making around 102,000, and a Certified Register Anesthetist is making about 186,000 (Indeed, 2009).

The starting salary for Register Nurses in the United States of America is about $39,000. The wages vary from country to country, for example some countries the average wage is lower than the United States because of the economy of the country. When comparing the United States nurses salaries to the United Kingdom, nurses in the United States make more money than the nurses in other countries. The average salary for Nurses in the United Kingdom is between £14,278 to £24,743. These salaries are for a nurse with 20 years of experiences (Pay Scale, 2009).
