Checkpoint Week Two

Incident 2-2: Bad Times at Quality Shoe

I think that Mack’s approach to the problem seems like he is asking Ralph and the other 16 employees to come up with ideas so that he doesn’t have to worry about what could be done. He should be there at the meetings that Ralph and the other employees have so that he can answer any questions they may have. Also he could do some brainstorming with them to help come up with ideas too. It would be a great comfort to Ralph and the other employees knowing that Mack is there to help and answer any questions that might arise. It would give them moral support in a way that it would show them that Mack is really trying to help and not put his job off on Ralph.

If it were me I would call the employees together and hold a meeting like Mack wants. The only difference is that I would attend the meeting so that I could give my own ideas and so that the employees could ask me questions. Together we could come up with ideas so that the company might see that they would not have to lay off people at that time. We could present the idea that there could be pay cuts or some procedures that the company does might be discontinued if they are not necessary.

If Mack doesn’t think that any of the ideas that the group come up with are not of any use, then I believe I would cut production by seniority. Employees seem to go with that idea better than any because they understand that they were hired last and the employees that have been there longer have a better idea of how the company is run.
