EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

This report primarily examines the Ministry of National Economy’s current project environment, in specific projects related to Information & Technology. It specifically identifies and compares the current project management practises adopted in executing and managing projects with the industry standard best project management process.

The key elements of any project cost, schedule & system design and their integrated synchronization brings in the standard project management practises. The current project management methodology adopted at the ministry is studied and highlighted are the deficiencies as result of inadequate work breakdown structure (WBS), no element to measure or monitor project costs and identify the risks elements involved at each project element.

The key recommendation would be to adequately define the WBS that properly links to the project budgets, also links the project resource groups so as to build a responsible assignment matrix (RAM) and accommodate the necessary risk elements that need to be clearly identified and analyzed.
