“Computers make it easier to do a lot of things, but most of the things they make it easier to do don't need to be done” (Andy Rooney, 1919). Computers are one of the greatest inventions created by man; however, many people have become overly dependent on its technology. Computer databases are used in many different arenas. Their main use is storing information that includes but is not limited to such things as financial records, medical records, school records, police reports. These various uses proves that computer technology have made life a lot less complicated; however, the sense of dependency has many negative aspects and can easily be viewed as a crutch. What did we do prior to all of today’s technological breakthroughs?

Today’s society often passes judgment on people based on the type of car they drive, the clothes they wear and even the type of computer device they use. Specifically, cellular devices have become overwhelmingly popular among the younger generation. The younger generation has become consumed with ensuring they possess the most modern form of technology. This technology ranges from cell phones, video gaming devices, electronic reading devices and electronic music devices. These devices have been linked to many bullying incidents, theft and other mishaps. Additionally, when not in possession of the most current device, children are pressuring parents to purchase these items. On the contrary, there are children who are so pressured and consumed by this technology that if unable to obtain it, they resort to illegal means of obtaining these objects. Marketing teams are continually devising upgrades to the already multi-faceted devices, thus making computer technology the fastest growing business in the world.
