Food Intake

In this report the author will be discussing her food intake for one day. Some of the questions asked will be, did she consume the recommended dietary reference intake from each food groups, which groups of foods were under or overrepresented, and does her intake follow a healthy diet. Her intake day is April 3, 2011. The author, who is pregnant, is already on a strict diet from her doctor. She should be eating plenty of nutrition and vitamins being that the baby receives all nutrient and vitamins through the umbilical cord (net doctor, 2011). A woman who is not pregnant must have 2100 calories a day and a pregnant woman needs 2500 calories a day (net cord, 2011).

On April 3, 2011 the author had two bowls Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes for breakfast, lunch she had another bowl of frosted flakes, dinner she had fried chicken, mustard greens, and homemade cornbread. Dietary intakes consist of plenty of vitamins and minerals, proteins and carbohydrates (diet.com 2011). My DRI kilocalories for the intake day should have been somewhere around 2734kcal it was within the acceptable DRI range measuring at 22 percent with my intake only being at 613kcal (Wiley Plus, 2010). She did not receive enough carbohydrates for the day and her sodium level was low (Wiley Plus, 2010). Grains, vegetable, and meat and beans were low, weighing in at 20 percent.

Her cholesterol level was good the recommended intake was 1.4grams and hers was only at 0.1grams which was only at 6 percent (Wiley Plus, 2010). The author did not receive enough protein for the day and her vitamin A level was over (Wiley Plus, 2010). With the writer being pregnant she her dieting is good but can be better.
