Honda Corporation’s (Honda) fundamental belief is respect for the individual. Honda is a large company with thousands of associates worldwide working to be the best in products from automobiles to power equipment such as generators.
Whereas Honda dedicates its self to acquiring the right personnel, it also ensures that it compensates its staff accordingly. In understanding who is an exempt and non-exempt employee Honda can sets salaries and hourly wages based on several factors such an experience and qualifications.
Honda also recognizes the needs of the organization and who it employs. Honda understands that possessing the right amount of people employed is important to its success by maintaining the right amount of regular staff employed every day. There are times when Honda may need extra help on a temporary basis or for special projects. With this, Honda does hire temporary and independent employees for those special needs.
Finally many states follow the employee-at-will doctrine. This in simple definition states that any employer may terminate employee for any reason without cause as long as there is no contractual obligation to remain in the relationship and as long as the reason is not prohibited by law, such as discrimination (Bennett-Alexander & Hartman, 2007, p. 25).
