In this essay I will be talking about the holocaust, how it changed things, why it shouldn’t be forgotten, & how to avoid it from happening again. The holocaust was a mass massacre when 6 million Jews & 5 million others were killed. A man named Adolf Hitler was against every race that wasn’t white, blond hair & blue eyed. He did very unnecessary things to these people that get dragged into these camps to get worked, starved, or gassed to death.

Why shouldn’t we forget the holocaust? We shouldn’t forget it because it was such a big thing nobody knew about until it was too late. So many people died, babies, elders, moms, & dads. All people who had no idea what was going on until the soldiers called them up to go to the “showers” & end up getting gassed. We also shouldn’t forget because the stories the very few survivors told, get to you. But that shouldn’t be the only reason; we need to forever remember that so we can think of how bad those people’s lives were then rather than for us feeling bad for ourselves because maybe we don’t have warm enough water, or because we didn’t eat what we want for dinner. This story is a life lesson & should help others open their eyes.

How can we avoid something like this from happening again? We can try to be aware & look for signs of people trying to start it up again. In the book night, they had no idea. People had heard rumors but never went to the camps so they thought it was just to scare them. Another way to avoid it is by making sure everyone knows what happened. If someone catches a sign of it happening again, not many will join. A lot will rebel against doing it & help stop instead.
