Healthier Lifestyles

A healthy lifestyle is an important part of one's lifestyle. It said “that average family consumes 2,700 calories daily by men and women. In a year, 23 pounds of pizza, 29 pounds of French fries, 53 gallons of soda, and 73.6 of poultry” (Family Circle, 2011. p 13 ). Therefore, keeping a healthy diet can sometimes be difficult but developing an understanding of the calories intake, portion size, and the nutrients the body acquires can be manageable education."Nutrition can be termed as the procedure wherein one nourishes oneself with the intake of nutrients in the form of food. The principal motive for such a process is that it is essential for growth and development of the body. It is also crucial in the substitution of tissues" (Blurtit, 2011 para 1) . A person must maintain healthy eating habits with the right amount of nutrition and calories intake per day.

I have done research on my daily intake and diet using the Wiley Plus iProfile. In this paper, I will be discussing my consumption of DRI from each food group, which group of food are underrepresented or overrepresented, if my diet provides an adequate variety of foods, finally I am going to compare and contrast my diet to the sample profile of Kelly Watson.

According to my iProfile, I do not have enough nutrients to maintain a healthy life because I have a poor diet. When I examine my nutritional pyramid, I did not meet recommendations by far. My grains 80 %, vegetables 50 %, and milk 45 %. I had little to none on fruits and oils and way too much meat and beans and discretionary. I consider this information to be true. I do eat large amounts of meats and beans and consume little to no fruits and oils.

From the results of this information, I can balance my diet by adding lots more of fruits to my daily diet. This will give the fiber that I need and also the vitamins that I lack...
