It makes a few token criticisms of the military, none at all of the ruling order which the military serves, concentrating his vitriol against the revolutionary movement. It turns out that in the latter part of the column he absolutely toes the military line that he cites.The causes of the rebellion are governance and poverty issues. End the fighting and policies that address these problems shall able to be formed and implemented.This will be evolutionary, protracted, and rocky every so often.

But then, this would be better than the so-called protracted people's war of the Stalinist fossils which has only brought so much grief to the Filipino people and which these rebels can never win.

It's time to the senseless violence. It's time for the ideologues to wake to reality that even the ideals that they once saw from another country and another society is evolving. It's time to abandon the movement that disguises with ideology. stop the exploitation of the innocent minds and idealism of our young citizens. It's time to redirect their creative minds, body and spirit in more productive ways.

It's very easy to lose sight of the end and focus on the means. And yet perhaps it is the means the counts. The means that means each single life should be respected. Because that is the only way that one's hands can be clean enough and one's life can be true enough to pursue one's aspirations for what is good for the country.
