Discuss the factors causing employee’s dissatisfaction.

It is very obvious that the employee is experiencing burnout. The employee is given busy work that is not challenging and she is frustrated and ready to quit. The employee dissatisfaction is caused by the lack of stimulation through education and training. There is no advancing toward her ultimate goal of owning her own business. The employee’s career path has not been encouraged for advancement within the organization and this has left the employee frustrated (Stewart & Brown, 2009).

Identify which of these factors could be addressed with improvements in the way the organization handles development as described in the chapter.

Acknowledging the employee’s frustration is Malik’s first challenge as the supervisor. Telling the employee to report to his office as soon as she comes to work the next day will give him some time to come up with some ideas to assist the employee with her frustration. This will also give the employee time to calm down and talk to Malik with a clear head. This meeting between Malik and the employee will give her the opportunity to express what it is she is feeling and why she is feeling that way. They can come up with an action plan or smart goals that will help her advance within the company (Stewart & Brown, 2009).

Discuss what Malik should do tomorrow with regard to his employee.

Malik needs to have the conversation with his employee immediately. Malik should demonstrate his concern through the determination of the meeting. Smart goals and professional development planning should be the topics. Malik needs to find out exactly what it is the employee wants to get from her job.
