Riordan Manufacturing

The Riordan Manufacturing existing business systems and sub- systems contain information relevant to employees as well as management. The link for Human Resources is located on the company’s intranet, this link is made available to employees of Riordan Manufacturing; these include processes for management and other information pertaining to company guidelines, employee files, reports and the employee handbook (Apollo Group, Inc,  2011). The sub-systems both links and charts which include employee job description, classification and procedures, the current business systems used in Riordan Manufacturing at their corporate headquarters in San Jose, utilize a fully integrated system that is window based “Enterprise Resource Planning” (ERP) software for their manufacturing, distribution and financial, however their Georgia facility is operating on a AS4000’s with UNIX operating system on PC’S (Windows) as workstations with only RPG400 capability (Apollo Group, Inc,  2011). Each process for Riordan Manufacturing needs to be streamlined in order to reduce the amount it would cost to continue using paper. Using such an outdated process would leave too much room for mistakes/or errors. I would recommend that each department within each sector of the organization implement some type manageable information system which will combine each processes, thus eliminating the paper trail, and automate processes throughout the organization. There are program such as Oracle able to complete these type processes. Ultimately by using such software; each of the smaller sub-systems will also be at a point to where they also will be able to complete the necessary functions within each section.
