The 1960’s had several aspects that impacted our society. The first person that I think about is Martin Luther King Jr. He was courageous, intelligent, strong, determine, and spiritual. This African American Leader crosses the barriers of cultures in order for African Americans to have the same rights as Caucasian. He fought with words, knowledge, and wisdom by demonstrations, speeches, rallies, meeting, protest, and etc. Some Caucasian believed that African Americans were being treated unfairly and supported the movement. Others believed he was a trouble maker and disapproved his message to the people and needed shut down. This lead to his assignation that brought the African American culture in uproar and disbelief but his message was brought to light after our first African American President was elected in 2008. Dr. King fights lead to African American being able to have to same opportunities in life as others.

The next things our first lady in office now is being compared to Jackie O. Kennedy. Michele Obama has her own way and style that some American people are not willing to embrace. The American people relate her to Jackie because they both brought their own style and set their standard with their children and family not according to the American rule book. As an African American Women, Mrs. Obama was able to attend the elite school for her higher education was in the early ages this would not have happen. She even experienced racism as we are still experiencing some this today but not as severe.
