Describe how society defines the social issue

Human beings in our society are becoming more acceptable to guys and lesbians. There have been many debates on how an individual determines their sexuality. Many people think that it is a product of society and some think that it is a something biological. Gays and Lesbians are getting more accepted in today’s society even though they have been discriminated against due to society by prejudging lesbians, gays and bisexuals. This social issue with gay rights has changed with the last 30 years. It has caused many gays and lesbians to be treated unequally. This prejustice and discrimination causes individuals within these sexual orientations to conceal or deny their sexual orientation. This can cause them to suffer from serious negative effects on their health. After all the research was done on homosexuality, it was determined that an individual that has this sexual orientation don’t suffer from a mental disorder. Society has defined homosexuality in many ways and some people are not sure how to deal with individuals that are interested in another individual of the same sex.

Describe the social categories that may be affected by the social issue.

Our society views people in different types of social classes. The social category that might be affected by gays and lesbians would be individuals that are not for gay rights. Social groups are considered a collection of people that interact with each other and share similar characteristics. Social categories that don’t accept today’s society of heterosexuals and bisexuals are also against same sex marriage.
