1. Define one change you would like to make in yourself. It might be a behavior or anything about yourself that you would like to alter. One thing I would really like to change about myself is my relationship with God. Some might think that that isn’t really something about me, but it absolutely is. My relationship with God is what defines me as a person, and I can say that as of lately, I’m not liking that person that I have become. I’m not saying that I am a horrible person by any means, but I haven’t really been in a good place for quite a few years. I feel like my relationship with God is a big factor in how I feel about myself. I have always been down on myself because I have clinical depression, and I can’t seem to help it however, I remember a time when I used to be a lot closer to God and I feel as though I was a lot happier then. I was a sophomore in high school, and I was going to a youth church every Wednesday night. I loved it! I felt like I was there with God and my whole heart and soul went into the worship service. I had always looked at other people so in tune with God during worship, and they just blocked out everything around them. I really admired those people, and at that point in my life I finally felt like that was me. That I was someone else’s inspiration.

2. Write down your specific goal for making the change, being sure your goal is realistic and fair. Use affirming, motivational language in your goal. For example, "I want to show my best friend that I am paying attention when they talk to me." My specific goal is to get back into going to church and get close to God like I used to be. I want to get back into the worship and feel like I have a safe place again. I feel like so many worldly items, and man-made things that society has made out to be important, have completely consumed my life. I don’t want to just accept that anymore, I want to get up, take charge of my life, and get back to where I want to be in my relationship with God.
