Discuss the role of leadership and how it can impact organizational performance.

Leadership has got an important role since it may impact the organization either negatively or positively. Effective leadership can lead to an effective performance of the organization leading to bigger gains in terms of achievement of an organizational goals as well as increased efficiency. Leaders with good leadership programs ensure that certain conditions that lead to better results are met. This way the performance of high quality will be seen in the whole organization.

Let’s look at the example; Mulally prioritized encouraging his leadership team to admit mistakes (Zaccaro & Klimoski, 2009). In addition to admitting mistakes, Allan Mulally has also encouraged his leadership team to share information and to cooperate across all divisions of the big company. This has depicted the effectiveness of leadership and the organizational performance, which has enabled the motor company to show better results than before. The recognition of mistakes helps to correct them in advance, therefore, ensuring effective performance of the organization.

A leadership culture where the leader uses symbols to communicate with employees allows to create an organizational culture, which ensures that effective communication is carried out in the organization, hence brings in better results for the company. Organizational culture was applied by Allan Mulally when he joined the motor company and made it a top priority to ensure the effective sharing of information in the firm.
