Introduction

McAfee, Incorporated (NYSE: MFE) is a computer and network security company that provides software solutions and services to individual users, businesses, the public sector and service providers that is based out of Santa Clara, California. McAfee business is divided into three segments; System Security, Network Security and Vulnerability and Risk Management. It secures electronic information to help customers comply with regulations, prevent performance obstructions and threats, and improve data security for user performance continuity. McAfee protects users from malware, spyware, hostile websites, spam, identity theft, and phishing attacks. Small businesses can utilize McAfee’s Security-as-a-Service instead of hiring IT staff. Enterprise customers can benefit from McAfee’s risk management and compliance knowledge to protect networks, endpoints and other mobile devices. McAfee also has an extensive partner network which can be exploited to provide customized solutions and services for its customers. Revenue for FY 2009 was $1.9 billion with 60% coming from North America and 40% internationally.

This paper will provide an internal analysis of the company within key strategy categories. An assessment of how McAfee is performing against these categories will also be addressed related to where they have strengths and where they are not performing optimally. Finally, a recommendation for the company to improve will be given to enhance the performance capability of the organization.
