Teenager in 20th Century

Stereotypes are to be expected everywhere, especially media entertainment, news industries and advertising, which need larger number of audience as possible to quickly understand information. Stereotypes are quick easy ways that give audiences a quick, similar understanding of a person or group of people usually involving there, ethnicity, class, race, gender, sexual orientation, or occupation. No one is safe from stereotypes these days even today's youth is suffering from it. Through movies and TV shows teens are perceived as people who only care about two things money and sex. While flipping the channels people can notice all the programming shown is directing toward teens. Even the news channel has stereotyped teens by making a public perception that youth crime is on the rise. Teenagers are targeted through movies or television, news and advertisement by having other teens pose as people that are perfect.

Movies and TV have creates an image for today's teenagers; it shows them as a wild group of people. Teens are portrayed as people who do not know any better and cannot tell wrong or right. The entertainment world has extremely attacked the youth in many ways; the media shows that all teens like drinking, taking drugs and having sex. Media puts out images showing twelve year old girls putting lots of makeup on and going out to parties. This is a very argumentative concept which does have some true aspects but most of them are the belief in one way. Today by the end of high school, the average students have spent more time watching TV then studying in the classroom. The time spent watching TV will impact some teens while it won't have effect on others.

The news also has stereotypical views on the youth. For instance, the teenage crime is on the rise, or out of control. This effect has been created largely through media coverage of scary stories about high school shootings, property crimes, and incidents involving youth gangs. As a...
