Childhood Obesity: Parenting or our society

Dealing with children obesity today has become a big health issue in our society. MY research proposal is to bring attention to the epidemic of our children health in our society. What are the causes of obesity and how we all can help with the issues that are putting our children health at risk? Parents should regulate the amount of food their children eat. Even though by not getting the children involved in, activities to burn off the food is not good. The reason why I chose this topic is to let other readers know what are some the causes of, the growing health problems affecting our young children.

The research will be limit on the topic of how parents can help at home with this issue. Also dealing with others issue that is associated with childhood obesity and any other contributing factors. Some resources that I am using give me the information that is needed, for this topic to show awareness of childhood obesity. Experts have cited “obesogenic” environments, those that promote obesity through poor eating and sedentary activity, as most dangerous for children. Research shows, that on average, children watch television or are involved in other screen media 5-7 hours per day. (Jordan, 2010) During this time they are exposed to a large number of advertisements for food products that are high in sugar and fat. The children are going to eat what you tell them to eat. It is up to the parents to have some knowledge of the food their children are eating.

I will give information on how parents can be a big part at home to, that can help controlled what their kids eat. How television advertising has a big influence on how and what kids want to eat which is not good for them. By allowing or giving into what the kids want to eat is not setting a good example of being a parent. The parents need to be stricter...
