In less than one month, aisles inside Macy's Southridge are going to be filled with customers as well as clothes.

Macy's has been building, drilling and re-organizing the south end of the Southridge Mall since August.

Macy's Vice President Greendale Store Manager Jennifer Duffy tells TODAY'S TMJ4's Jesse Ritka the store still has some work to do before the grand opening on March 14, "Macy's always looks for new opportunities in new markets and we feel that Milwaukee has really been under penetrated, some of our markets have 9-10 stores so we just thought this was a really good opportunity to offer another shopping option."

The two story department store is bringing 160 new jobs to Greendale, but most Southridge stores hope Macy's will also bring new customers.

Tan Honsa works at the Buckle and has noticed the lack of shoppers; "Realistically Southridge has been having some troubles lately."

But Honsa thinks the new anchor store may be the solution to their troubles. "I think that this is definitely going to revive it, breathe some fresh air into the area," Honsa adds.

Because more foot traffic means more business. "I'm glad that we have the opportunity to have it on THIS side of the mall," Honsa says.

Honsa believes Southridge is already on the right track, two additional stores are opening this spring, right next to Macy's. The shopping center is completing their own renovations at the same time, scheduled to complete in June.

"It's a great mall, largest mall in Wisconsin and we just felt like we'd be a great addition to it with their renovations," exclaims Duffy. Adding she thinks this Macy's will really make Wisconsinites feel at home, local photographers' artwork will be on display at the new store.

"Even though we are America's department store and have some of our national images, we also kind of blend in local images, the Calatrava, the Pabst mansion, the Macy's Thanksgiving parade with City Hall. So it really represents what...
