It is with multiple leadership styles that a company such as Disney has been able to be so successful over the years. Managing a conglomerate has to be a flexible and constantly changing experience. The company has managed to set up a few organizational procedures that show them as a leader with positive character. Through the exploration of leadership styles, the power chain, and culture Walt Disney manages to balance the very delicate line between leadership and relationship.

Different leadership styles affect group communication

There are multiple styles in which a person can choose to lead. According to Steven Beebe and his co-authors of Communicating in Small Groups, “Although no two people act as leaders in precisely the same way, people do lead with three basic styles: (1) authoritarian (or autocratic), (2) democratic, and (3) laissezfaire” (Beebe, et. al, 2009, pg. 290). These three styles are bahaviors enacted by the power regime in order to direct company and individiual progression. The authorittarian method allows for the superiority of one individual to make all the decisions and control all. The democratic method allows a group to be involved in the decision making, at times. Finally, the laissez-fair method is about the freedom of follow through and the group directing itself.

Walt Disney company deals with employees, customers, stock holders, investors, vendors, and many more on a regular basis. They have a reputation to uphold and each group need different managing tactics.There are cases in which Disney has set great leadership expectations but even Disney can get it wrong sometimes.
