The Cracked Mirror Image of the Tale Little Red Riding Hood
A children’s tale known by millions, was soon thought out to become a great in-depth movie. The movie “Red Riding Hood” directed by Catherine Hardwicke, captures the inside story of a beautiful young woman whose destination is not only focused on traveling to her grandmother’s house, but also trying to figure out who the so called “beast” of the forest is. Additional and removed scenes give the movie more suspense and excitement, taking the story of “Little Red Riding Hood” to a whole different level. The movie “Red Riding Hood” compared to the original children’s story, “Little Red Riding Hood” contrasts in numerous ways, regarding the theme, characters change in appearance.
Between the movie and children’s tale, the title of the movie is different, reflecting the theme, characters change in appearance. This divergent effect on each of the titles, results in giving the reader a different perspective on the main characters presence. In the children’s tale, the title of the story includes the word “little”, giving the appearance in one’s mind, as a young child. In contrast, the movie’s title does not include the word “little”, but instead leaves it out, making the outlook of the character seen as more of a young lady and gives the audience a more serious take on the movie. Featuring a young woman can have the story commit to being more realistic for an older viewing audience, rather than being unrealistic similar to a childish fairy tale. This gives limits to how the main character acts, reflecting her age and status in the story. Having a young woman in the movie breaks away those limits, giving more variety of conflict and romance in the story’s plot line.
Between the movie and children’s tale, romance is included in the movie but not the story, also reflects back to the theme, character change in appearance. In the children’s tale, romance does not take part. Including this would take away from the...
