When it comes to managing emotions there are specific situations that evoke strong emotional responses such as disagreements between partners or becoming frustrated while driving in rush hour traffic. One situation that tends to evoke strong emotions in is the issue of letting family members borrow money and them not paying it back because they think they do not have to because you are family.

There was this incident where I call myself helping my cousin out by letting her borrow some money to help get her husband out of jail. We discussed that when she got paid the following week that she was going to start paying me back. Nonetheless when her husband got out of jail she coincidently forgot she had to pay me back. I called and texted her for about a month without any luck.

One day I decided to pay a visit to there house and by that time I was very upset and angry. “When a person has strong emotions many bodily changes occur” (Rochman & Diamond, 2008) such as physical and cognitive reactions. Some of my physical responses were my facial expressions of anger, disappointment and hurt all at the same time. As far as my voice it starts out as being a little deeper than it normally is and once I get everything out in the open it’s almost to the point of yelling or shouting. Although physical changes were observable there were also cognitive emotions that I was going through such as the more infuriated I became the more I had trouble getting my words out. It was if I was possessed because all my thought were scattered. Furthermore my brain seemed to be in overdrive and my mouth could not keep up with my thoughts. Some of my thoughts were distorted and discombobulated. Even though some of my statements did not make sense I really did not care because I wanted to get my point across and to let them know that they hurt me because I trusted them and they let me down.
