Answer the following questions (use MS Project help if necessary):

1) Define effort-driven?

Effort driven can be define as the extension or shortening the duration of a task to accommodate changes to resources but doesn’t change the total work for the task. Effort driven assumes that resource work (and skill) is interchangeable. Could 10 people do 80 hours total work in one day?

2) Under what circumstances would you turn off effort driven scheduling?

Turning off effort driven scheduling is when units of different resources are added or subtracted from the task he amount of work can change.

3) Use a real-world example of when you would make a task as a Fixed Duration type task?

Fixed duration is the length of working time between the start and finish of a task. When you choose to make a task Fixed Duration, the task's duration remains at whatever value you enter and Project recalculates the resource units as you change assignments. A good example of this is doing a plan for requirements gathering interviews.  I know that I have 2 weeks of interviews, 1 week of documentation and 2 days of client review and I know that I need a Business Analyst and a Technical Architect in each one at 100%. Fixed Duration works really well because I can adjust the schedule really easily and the work effort is calculated for me

4) What is the formula for calculating duration?

Duration is calculated by: Duration = Work / Units

5) What are the eight preset work contours (hint: In the Task Usage view right click on a resource name an open the assignment information box) and what are the procedures in applying them to a resource on a task?
