No matter who you are or what you do, we all have encountered a moral dilemma that has led to a tough decision. Ethics are standards by which one should act based on values. Values are core beliefs such as duty, honor, and integrity that motivate attitudes and actions. Not all values are ethical values (integrity is; happiness is not). Ethical values relate to what is right and wrong and thus, take precedence over nonethical values when making ethical decisions.

Moral values constantly change with the generations and most believe that today’s moral issues are more tolerant of behavior that, a generation ago, would have been considered obscene and immoral. This is proven everyday when you turn on your television. Sex on television is accepted by today’s public as normal, but twenty years ago you couldn’t mention the word “sex” on television without being condemned.

Morals and values start at a very young age and they start at home with the parents. So if families are breaking up and morals are mainly taught in the family that must mean that morals are being lost with the breaking up of the families. There are far too many single parents raising children today. A child learns certain values from their mother and they also learn certain values from their father. If we connect the breakup of the family to moral issues, we see that when a child is raised in a broken family, his morals are also broken. When that child has a family of his own, breakup of his family is inevitable, further decreasing the morality of his children. This cycle continues until either the bottom is reached or something supernatural occurs to break that cycle.

Not only does individuals have ethics but so does your organizations. I believe that all companies have the same accountability and responsibility as an individual and in some cases more.
