The way an individual acts, speaks louder than what an individual says. Sticking to this statement is easier said than done. Communication is a very important part of everyday life. Communication can be described as an exchange of ideas, messages, spoken words, writing, information, and behaviors. There are many distinctive areas of communication that should be discussed to understand the communication process. An area would be Demonstrative communication. Demonstrative communication focuses on nonverbal and unwritten forms of communication. Nonverbal communication is the face expressions and the body language people use to communicate. Demonstrative communication can be both positive and negative when sending the receiving messages (Cheesebro, O'Connor, & Rios, 2011).

Demonstrative communication is basically the allowance of self-expression. How someone expresses him or herself says lots about his or her character. I was once told that people can tell someone’s self-expression or personality by the places they sit in the classroom. For example, the corner seats of a class room students sat in were considered the power seats of the room. The seats that students sat in closest to the teacher were considered to be taken by students who are quiet and are interested in listening closely to what the teacher is saying. People use demonstrative communication every day without even realizing it. The clothes people wear, the tattoos, hairstyles, and symbols used are different forms of demonstrative communication, even though these types of communication are usually considered positive some can be easily misread. Some gestures, appearances, and facial expression can mean different things to different people (Leppanan, Hietanan 2003).
