Creek Ratz is a very popular restaurant located along the coast of northern Florida. They

serve a variety of steak and seafood dinners. During the summer beach season, they do not take reservations or accept “call ahead” seating. Management of the restaurant is concerned with the time a patron must wait before being seated for dinner. Listed below is the wait time, in minutes, for the 25 tables seated last Saturday night. a. Explain why the times are a population. Times are a population because individuals are in waiting times.

b. Find the mean and median of the times. The mean is the sum of all the values in the population over the number of values in the population = 40.84 The median is the midpoint of the values after they have been ordered from the smallest to the largest, or the largest to th c. Find the range and the standard deviation of the times. The range is the difference between the largest and the smallest values in a data set = 67-23 = 44 The variance is the arithmetic mean of the squared deviations from the mean = 5291/25=211.6544 Standard deviation is the square root of the variance = SQRT(211.6544) = 14.544 The variance using the formula 220.4733 The standard deviation using the formula = 14.8483
