The company I have chosen, from the beginning, is Dollar General Stores, Inc. At this time, they are located in 38 states with more than 9,800 locations throughout the United States, and growing. The employees, including Managers, at each store ranges from about 12-14 employees working morning and evening shifts (Dollar General web site. 2012).

The first style of leadership I have chosen is participative leadership. This is described as being the best when it comes to leadership in every business world. In this style of leadership, the person is very open to suggestions from his/her team members, even though this type of leader gets to choose the final decision from these suggestions (Rampur, Stephen. 2011). I think it is important for just one person to be able to have a final say in what decisions do get to move forward and become part of an important process. Without just one person being able to make have that final say, who knows just how long it would take for a group to come up with just one idea or suggestion to be the one that is picked.

The second style of leadership I chose was charismatic leadership because with this style of leadership it is the leader who puts forth all of their energy and enthusiasm into the project the team chooses. He or she is the one who helps motivate the other team members and keeps them moving in the right direction. This leader may also let this kind of leadership go to their heads (Rampur, Stephen. 2011). This type of leadership can be fun and also important as long as the right person is doing the leading because no one wants to choose a leader who is too laid back and will not do anything or help with suggestions.
