Court Visitation

For the court visitation I went to the New City Courthouse on the 18 of October. My experience in the courthouse was very interesting and educational. There were many new things to me and some things that I understood. Everyone present going up for trial and the attorneys were well dress and respectable. A new thing that I saw, that I only seen in movies, was when the defendant came out of the backroom in a orange suit and handcuff to their waist. That alone was interesting to see in person. Throughout the time I was there some of the cases

One of the cases that interested me in the time I was there was with a man that was charge of alter hand weapon charge 3rd degree, which is a felony, and resisting arrest on August 22nd. Defendant says he was hanging out in front of dunkin donuts cleaning his nail with a court screw. The prosecutor said he was in front of the dunkin donuts exposing a pocket knife and waving it around civilians. After all this was said judge Kelly was explaining what was going to happen to him making sure that he understood everything that was said. Court said he suffers from a bipolar disorder and for that reason he was not sentenced to jail but impatient for four to nine months without leaving. If the defendant were to leave or get accuse of a felony again he will do jail time.

Few other cases that happen that day were Kyle Ryan, has a $25,000 bail, attorney ask for a motion date, which I was sure what term means, but extended the date till November 6th. There was other who had probation; failure to follow probation will lead to jail time. One was lee who has to pay a fee of $200 before January 4, she is not a citizen. Another one is Clark Brown vs Jennifer Brown. Was not sure what the hearing was about but judge Kelly told him he can get in touch with her at all. He can’t call, text, e-mail her, not even third party conversations until June 19, 2012.
